Flers (Orne)

Flers in Normandy/France. Houses made of boulders that were gathered from meadows and fields are characteristic of this area. Due to scores of deposits they served as building materials.
Originally, Flers was a small medieval village that’s history dates back to the 12th century. As a result of the industrial revolution the town grew into an economic center in Normandy. During World War II 70 percent of the town was destroyed by the Allies and later rebuilt within two decades.
